Set atop a hill within a native oak woodland, Deux Vert Residence occupies a threshold between cultivated vineyard and the broader Willamette Valley landscape. Ground Workshop’s design draws from this agrarian setting while establishing a series of intimate outdoor spaces closely connected to the architecture. Courtyards extend the interior rooms into the landscape, shaped by a restrained palette of concrete, native stone, metal, and planting. Beyond, the pool and lawn terraces perch above the vineyard, their strong geometric edges opening to expansive views of the surrounding hills.
By carefully settling the house into the hillside, the landscape creates a deliberate contrast between the precision of the garden and the character of the surrounding woodland. Curated spaces give way to native vegetation at their edges, allowing the distinction between garden and landscape, designed and found, to become part of the experience of the place.
