Set within Oregon’s Dundee Hills, Archery Summit is one of the Willamette Valley’s established Pinot Noir producers. Its 1990s French-inspired winery and tasting room had long been rooted in the landscape, but the arrival experience offered little connection to the vineyard setting beyond.
In collaboration with Heliotrope Architects, Ground Workshop reimagined the winery’s front door as a sequence of landscape spaces that draws visitors from arrival to tasting—and outward toward the distant hills. A new entry court establishes a more welcoming threshold, while an outdoor tasting terrace extends the experience into the landscape, creating a place to gather, linger, and experience the character of the Willamette Valley.
A restrained palette of concrete, metal, crushed stone, and planting complements the architecture without competing with its surroundings. Spare and tactile, the landscape creates a contemporary counterpoint to the existing winery while allowing the vineyard and expansive views to remain the focus.
