Saqasqa Park

Saqasqa Park (pronounced sahk-a-sahk-a) is a new 2-acre neighborhood park taking shape in the North Bethany community of Washington County. Developed in partnership with Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) and funded by the 2019 Metro Parks and Nature bond, the park advances goals of clean water protection, habitat restoration, and community connection.

Named after the Arabic onomatopoeia for a bird’s tweet-tweet, Saqasqa Park reflects the community’s desire for a place to observe wildlife and engage with nature. The design extends the North Bethany Creek Trail and introduces a rich variety of amenities, including playgrounds, a picnic shelter, educational gardens, a free-to-pick orchard, and native meadows that support pollinators and habitat.

Community engagement shaped the vision from the start, informing both programming and identity. Ground Workshop leads a multidisciplinary team including Froelich Engineers, R&W Engineering, Environmental Science Associates (ESA), and Westlake Consultants. Park completion is anticipated in 2027.
