Airport Heights Park

Airport Heights Park, located on a scenic peninsula in North Bend, Oregon, is poised for transformation. Though modest today, the park has the potential to become a vibrant, inclusive space that reflects the values and vision of the local community. To guide this transformation, the Coos Bay–North Bend Rotary Club partnered with Ground Workshop to develop a community-driven master plan. Through site visits and public workshops, the team created a thoughtful, actionable design to support fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and long-term development.

The plan centers around a new community gathering space with a large lawn, band shell, and surrounding plazas. Reconfigured youth baseball fields, play areas for all ages, and an “Active Zone” with volleyball, pickleball, a climbing wall, and a pump track create diverse recreation opportunities. A boardwalk and nature trails connect visitors to forested areas, scenic lookouts, and the nearby senior center.

The result is a flexible, accessible park that blends natural beauty with community needs—designed to serve Airport Heights for generations to come.
